Restoration is Coming

I often think about what life would’ve been like in the Garden of Eden.

I like to bury my feet in the grass, close my eyes, and imagine walking with God at the time of the evening breeze. (Genesis 3:8)

Perhaps the kids would have walked with God too. Maybe He would have helped them climb a tree or playfully splash with them in the river. They could have run through fields, meadows, and orchards without the fear of strangers or wild animals and without the limits of a fenced in backyard.

But then reality hits: we don’t live in that Garden.

We live in a sinful world.

We live in a world that is being destroyed.

We live in a world that is war torn, selfish, hateful, accusing, and divisive.

We live in a world where sin is often excused, glorified, and encouraged.

When we look at the world, it certainly doesn’t look like there is any hope.

But scripture says that believers DO have something to look forward to.

“Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the city’s main street. The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations, and there will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Night will be no more; people will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light, and they will reign forever and ever.”
Revelation 22:1‭-‬5 CSB

What a beautiful picture of Heaven.

Maybe it will be similar to the Garden, maybe it will be even better.

But I do know that it will be filled with the joy and love and presence of our Creator, our Savior, our Friend.

Restoration is coming.
